Warrior Boy's Endo CNP says this is just fine. For his age, WB is right where he should be, in the controlled range for his A1c. Why do I beat myself up about only having dipped below 7.0 once in two years? It just felt so awesome to get below 7. Like I was accomplishing something. Maybe like I was helping my son, when most days I feel so abso-stinking-lutley out of control and helpless. I need to be happy with the little wins, add them up and keep fighting. Much better decision. Let's work with that.
Why was it funky? Not one bg below 220. No matter what.
New site last night, 119 before bed was the last good number we had. Played his heart out all afternoon. Over 2 1/2hours at the park. Freakin ton of insulin. Still 303. An hour later, 270. Not much better. Hated to do it, but we went ahead and tried another new site. Ate dinner. Ready for bed, 189. No good reason. His site looked fine, but goodness, I am supposin' it was not. Hoping to see it all turn around at this point.
Totally having the nephew help me this weekend to make this blog actually function and be pretty. It's a little depressing the way it is.
I am way too tired and way too tired. (Ha, yes I know I said it twice, that is how tired I am,cheese-y tired!)
Overall, WB is doing great. He pays attention and hears everything and interrupted me a few times at his appointment to correct me. I love this kid. He was busy playing DS and busy drawing a medieval battle scene, once he found my marker in my purse, but he still hears all and stops to correct his momma.
Thank you God for my boys. Thank you for giving me the tools I have at my disposal. Thank you for insulin. Thank you for hope.

Techno-Disabled and Scared the Cr*p Out of Myself
So, my blog looks like poo, because, well, I have no idea what I am doing. I am enlisting my neice and nephew to come over and help their poor techno-challenged Auntie so that I can make it all "pretty-fied". Be patient, I will figure it out. I may not have all the answers, but I am tenacious to be sure.
And how did I scare the "you know what" out of myself and my wonderful hubby? I am sure many of you do this. I know that I am more high strung and full of worry than your average bear, even before Warrior Boy's diagnosis, but now, ugh!
Little Bear (our 3 yr old) was pee-ing up a storm yesterday. Four times in about an hour. Craziness. He drinks and eats constantly, always, unless deathly ill, sometimes even then. He is always "drinky" and hungry. He also pees a bit, goes with the being "drinky" all the time, right? It just felt wrong yesterday, like it was just a bit more than usual.
Nuff said.
He loves being just like his big brother, so I thought, why not let him pee on a test strip? Check for ketones. He has done it before, thinks he is big stuff, wants to do it himself....you get the idea. Any of you with more than one child, I know you have done this.
My poor Lil Bear.
Crazy Momma.
For the first time the strip turned pink. Not just Trace pink, but PINK, Small pink, but PINK.
Called for Big Bear (hubby). We looked at each other in horror, pain, FEAR, dread. Kept it together to go on with Lil Bear's shower. Then thought he might like to test his finger? OOOOH Yeah! He really did want to, "just like my brother?" Yes, baby, just like your brother. Waiting for that 5 second read out was the longest ever. 102. Breathing again. But WTH?! what does this mean?
Called the Pediatrician's emergency line. On call nurse asks questions about any other symptoms, not much. I ask, can ketones come from something else. Now, I know they can be caused by starvation, dehydration. Never in a million years would I have thought that this would describe not eating for 4-5 hours. She says, she really couldn't say if they can be caused by anything other than diabetes. Can she offer me an appointment in the morning? You Betcha!
Tested again before bed, no ketones, 104. No sleep for me or Big Bear, lil crying, lotta worry, aged a few years I probably didn't have to spare. This morning, fasting, Trace ketones, 76. Seriously. I know nothing, just enough to scare the shit out of myself.
Wonderful pediatrician calmly sees Lil Bear at 9:15 this morning. Takes a sample. No ketones, no glucose, all beautifully normal and fine, Fine, F-I-N-E!!!!!! Sobbed with relief. She sz: why didn't you call me? Seriously. I understand that on-call nurse can not really say either way, but couldn't she have given me a "well.....can't say for sure, but ketones can be caused by eating a late dinner (5 hours after lunch). See the doctor in the morning for a more complete eval and definitive answer." ?
Yay!!! YAYAYAYAYAYYAYYAYYYYYYYY! Still holding my breath a little, but thank you God.

Initial, tentative steps into the Great Blogosphere
So...all I have managed so far is a picture and a blog address, but I have made my first steps toward the Great World of Blogging. I swore I would never understand why folks would go online and talk about their lives. Well now, here I am. Going online and talking about my family, my DH and my sweet boys lives. I have been bouncing around the blogosphere, reading and crying and laughing and praying with some of you. I feel like I have this extended family now that I have been too shy to show my face at family functions to. So here I am, me, my warrior boy: Big E, 7 yrs old, (diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on 2/24/2009), my charmer: Lil Bear, age 3 and of course my wonderful hubby, Chris, without whom I would be lost, much grumpier and possibly never on time. There is a whole cast of crazies we call family and friends, but we will get to them in time I am certain.
I am not sure what I am doing. Venting, exploring, reaching out, just what, I am not sure. I know I am glad that I have read so many posts from so many women who are living the life I live, as the psuedopancreas for their children. Glad, overjoyed, filled with rapture. So here I am. I will be fleshing out our story and moving on from there very soon. Until then, I am: thankful, overwhelmed, scared, angry, sleep deprived, not alone, loving and loved .... my cup runneth over.
